When she is not in Uganda she is travelling all over the place and has been the last few years in about 20 countries in Africa, traveling by local busses, land rovers, Matatus and boda boda’s while running her business on the road. In her talk Stella will share her experiences with you, how it’s like to travel in western, eastern and southern part of Africa. She stayed a month in Morocco, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Rwanda, a couple of months in South Africa and years in Uganda on a on/off basis. Stella travelled a lot off the beaten track, so she would struggle by times finding strong Wifi and also finding like-minded friends. One way to overcome this challenge is by organizing social workations. Stella hold already 3 this year, who were a huge success. Digital Nomads from all over the world came to Uganda to co-work and co-live with her and more importantly to see her projects and help out where possible. And the impact has been amazing, with the help of the other social nomads they fundraised around 10.000 euro for the kids and also many children found a long-term sponsor to send them to school. In addition, at every social workations 6 master mind sessions has been held together with local entrepreneurs and local digital nomads. Coworking is also becoming a big thing in Uganda and co-work hubs are popping up everywhere. Stella will shine a light on how internet has been changing a lot the last years in Uganda and impacted people’s business here tremendously. Stella will also share her travel hacks and tips with you: how to travel best in African countries when you are on a tight budget. Where to eat, where not to eat, how to travel, how to dress and where to get the best Wi-Fi. Stella will also address the topic of staying healthy with particular regards to taking malaria pills while being in Africa long term and also talk about business ethics.

In this Talk or Workshop you will learn:

• Differences and similarities between African countries

• Travel tips for which transport to you use when traveling in different countries in Africa

Who is this for: everyone who wants to work remotely and travel within different countries in Africa. Also she will show you how to make an impact and difference in the world while you travel.

About Stella Airoldi

Her studies brought her to Africa where she interviewed refugees in Kampala, Uganda. Some of these women, mainly widows and HIV positive, made jewelry out of recycled paper. In order to have an impact, Stella started to buy this jewelry to sell it to her friends in the Netherlands. The project evolved: there is now a professional brand, 2 production units and a sponsor project for school fees of the children. When Stella is not in Uganda, she travels the world, alone or with her friends from the digital nomad community. In 2017 she also organises social workations in Uganda to connect nomads with local people to make a social impact.
